Are you interested in making your own DIY homemade baby wipes?  Maybe you want to save money. Perhaps your primary objective is to be kind to the earth. Or maybe you want the healthiest option for your baby. These are all great reasons to make your own baby wipes!

DIY Homemade Baby WipesThere are many different “recipes” on the internet for homemade baby wipes, but I believe that these are the easiest and healthiest for your baby’s skin. I make mine with organic unscented castile soap, an all natural, non-toxic soap that is sourced from organic olive oil. It is gentle and safe while also being naturally antibacterial. It’s the best choice for baby’s delicate skin as well as children and adults with sensitive skin.

DIY- Homemade Baby Wipes in 5 Easy Steps!

Since many new parents are interested in green living, I have included three different options for these healthy baby wipes which all use the same all-natural soap mixture. Here are 5 easy steps for making this easy DIY recipe!

Step 1

Decide which version you would like to make. Here are three options depending on your preferences:

Green

The first option is to use disposable paper towels. The best disposable paper towel is a heavy-duty brand such as Viva or Bounty. Trust me, using a lighter weight cheaper brand will not work!  They will fall apart and cause you all kinds of frustration. Don’t be tempted to skimp here with discount paper towels. You will be sorry if you do.  🙁

Greener

The second option is to use reusable heavy-duty bamboo towels. These are really cool!  They are environmentally-friendly, sturdy AND machine washable so you can use them multiple times!  They are definitely a cheaper and greener option.  You can buy them here.

Greenest

The last option is to use cloth towels for your wipes. I recommend soft terry baby washcloths like these, but any thin wash cloth will do! Make up enough solution to last one week, so your wipes do not grow mold or other nasties! Remember, there are no preservatives in these wipes which is a very good thing!

Step 2

Gather or buy your supplies. Here’s what you’ll need:

  1. Viva or Bounty paper towels, bamboo towels or terry wash cloths

2. Empty Container with a lid

3. Dr. Bronner’s Unscented Baby Mild Pure Castile Soap

If you haven’t already heard about this amazing soap, I can’t rave enough about how much I LOVE this stuff!  It is truly pure and safe for your baby. In addition, castile soap is also a very safe and effective cure for cradle cap.  It is the only baby soap you will need for both hair and skin. This soap is highly concentrated, so don’t be afraid of the price tag. One bottle lasts a  l-o-n-g time and can be used for your entire family!
